What To Do in a Rumble
Sermon Delivered on May 24, 2009Pastor Dan Housam delivers the second message in the A Little R&R series. Pastor Dan discusses, among other things, forgiveness.
Don't Get Burned by Unforgiveness
See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. Hebrews 12:15
If you forgive anyone, I also forgive him. And what I have forgiven - if there was anything to forgive - I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake, in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes. 2 Corinthians 2:10-11
Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Ephesians 4:31
Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord does not count against him and in whose spirit is no deceit. Psalm 32:1-2
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1
I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more. Isaiah 43:25
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:17-18
Forgive and Fuggetaboutit
For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But, if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. Matthew 6:14-15
If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. But if he will not listen, take one of two others along, so that 'every matter may be established by the testimony of two of three witnesses.' If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector. Matthew 18:15-17
Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift. Matthew 5:23-24
