Marriage: An Image of God
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27
"For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh." This is a profound mystery - but I am talking about Christ and the church. Ephesians 5:31-32
Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. 2 Corinthians 6:14
When Does Marriage Begin?
For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. Genesis 2:24
If a man seduces a virigin who is not pledged to be married and sleeps with her, he must pay the bride-price, and she shall be his wife. Exodus 22:16
Do you know that he who united himself with a prostitute is one with her body? For it is said, "The two will become one flesh." 1 Corinthians 6:16
Making Marriage Work
Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. Ephesians 5:22
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. Ephesians 5:25
So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate. Matthew 19:6
